Fashion class

This is supposed to be my last post but I have been thinking I want to keep this going. I really liked this part of the class even though it took time every week now that I have time over break I want to keep it going. It makes me feel better to write about what I feel, and write about all the new fashion news and my crazy shopping habits.

Now I'm off to snow land Syracuse NY where their is NO fashion at all but soon I'll be off to sunny Florida to spend the Holidays with my family in a couple weeks...Shopping is out of control I need to start saving now so I have money for me and I guesssss buy others some gifts haha..

Loved the class thanks for a great semester!

XOXO New Kind of Merchandising

So I was just watching ShowBiz tonight and saw something that was real interesting! It is the XOXO store in NYC and their new window displays. Live girls changing into all different clothes in the window. I could not believe it! It is getting a lot of press because of the risque nature of this new visual merchandising idea. I don't know how I really feel about it...It is kinda wrong but it is definitely getting the press that they want because I know myself I have not heard of XOXO in a longgg time and I didn't even know they had a store in NYC. So this is defiantly working for them.

The girls are told to act like they do not see the crowd and act like they are getting ready together doing things like painting their nails. It is really different then all the other displays on Fifth Ave. It only is going on for another week so they are urging people to go see it now. Maybe XOXO will make a come back! Who knows....http://www.asylum.com/2009/12/04/racy-fifth-avenue-xoxo-display-has-live-nude-models/

Audrey Hepburn

I found this really fun and interesting. Audrey Hepburn's designer clothing is going on action in Paris next week. The most interesting piece I thought they are acting off is her wedding dress made by Rome based Fontana sisters. She never got to wear it because her wedding was called off but what she did was gave it back to the sisters and told them to give it to some girl who could never afford a dress like that one. That really is amazing to me. The last time they had an action of her clothing it brought in 1 million dollars. I wonder how much it will now with the economy being so bad. What a great piece of history to have if you could afford it!

Disney gone wild

Ok so I must say I was a big fan of Disney show when I was younger...but lately they have been getting the worst of the worst. Point in case Miley Cyrus first with her whole big controversy in Vanity Fair and she shedding her Disney image by dressing sexy and acting like she was a lot older than she is...lets remember here she is 17! Sometimes I forget and think she is my age...but yeah NO! So now she is out showing a new grown up statement a Tattoo and guess where...Under her left breast!!! Come on Miley! Anddd to top it off her bathing suit is hot pink and tiny...the best part is the pad you can see she added to look like she has bigger boobs! With all that money you think she could afford a nice bathing suit with padding you cant see!! She is going trashy now and its sad at 17! Least Britney at her age had cute outfits that everyone wanted! This girl just looks like she walked out of a trailer...Sorry Miley fans...Its just not right at her age!

A New Barbie Must Have!!

I have always been a huge fan of Barbie. My whole childhood I always remember having all the new Barbies it seemed like everyday I got a new one. But the ones I remember the most were the collector ones that I could NOT open!! My mother never would let me touch them and more than anything I wanted to play with them because they always were so pretty and had the best outfits! So last night I opened my email and I saw the best new Barbie and I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!! It is the new Christian Louboutin edition Barbie!!!!! Wow!!! I LOVE IT! It is the best Barbie I have ever seen!! It comes with 4 pairs of shoes and the red shoe bags and the boxes!!! It was sold and Net-A-Porter yesterday and is already sold out and on back order! It is $150 but totally worth it! I am so mad I did not buy one last night my mom said she was going to get it for Christmas but she did not know it was going to sell out that fast!! Ah I am so mad! But hopefully she can get it! www.net-a-porter.com/barbie

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Well after watching that makes you not want to eat ever again...ahah I know many people feel that way. But don't get me wrong I loved watching it but not many people can look as good in lingerie like them. I just thought it was real interesting how they showed the the wanna be Angles having their bodies critiqued that way on national TV. The guy was so mean about it and these girls were soooo skinny and pretty much perfect but to say they had flaws on TV really makes me think about the younger girls watching this show and thinking they need to be like them. No wonder there are so many girls with eating disorders. Was there not a whole big thing on models being too skinny?? And then to show this guy saying all this stuff about these girls who looked like they didn't eat? Just really took me back and really bothered me. Yes it is ok to show that they all work out but to say the flaws that these girls have was wrong in my eyes. They are giving this pretty much unattainable look to young girls.

No Time for Fashion

So as the semester winds down, the only thing on my mind is finals finals finals. But in the back of my mind there is Christmas shopping....Time for that is very limited for me this year. I have wayyy too much homework to spend the whole day at the crazy mall. I don't have time to search for deals this time of year...So it looks like I am going to be buying things at full price. I keep hearing everything is on sale and there are soo many good sales but when I try to find them I never ever do!! What is going on here?? Why can't I ever find a good deal...and why does everyone in my family expect me to buy them high fashion high priced gifts....ahhh just another downfall to the money we spend on fashion. I love it more than anything but not the prices. I am over this trying to save money and I know this Christmas season I have to! Oh well somehow we will all get through the holidays with some money for the new year!

lets talk outlets

So on my adventure to become a savvy shopper, I decided to go to the outlets. Actually it was my boyfriends idea but hey what the heck I thought maybe I could find some good deals. So we planned that all day Saturday that we would go. We got early and went. When we got there it was soo packed, I thought oh this is where everyone is shopping now. So I thought well there must be great deals! I got really excited. We went to Norstrom first. Walking in I was taking back because there were so many people just rushing around the store searching for good deals. This is the main reason I hate discount shopping. The atmosphere is nothing like real mall shopping. I get so stressed out from all the people trying to get the best deal. So I went to shoes thinking there would be less people there and I was wrong. I would try on a shoe and someone would come right behind me and grab it after I took it off. It was crazy. But I was real excited because I saw that there was all different really nice designer shoes. But then again another huge disappointment they were still $300!! For a pair of Burberry flats. To me that was not a deal! I was looking to save more than that. So after those disappointments I moved on to different stores. Neimans nothing...still high prices not worth buying. Then Saks...Ok so I found some good deals at there...$200 jeans for $80 which made me really happy. But that's about it! My boyfriend on the other hand found $200 jeans for $60 and others for cheaper. Of course he found better things...which just made me even more mad....

My whole point is that outlets are really not that great...yeah you might save a little but they are not such a huge discount where I would only go shop there now....

This is not really working out for me haha...Still gonna try

Thinking about money

So I have been thinking about this whole saving money thing, and actually this weekend I tried it out. I went to Marshalls and found a ton of clothes, that I never thought I would. Nothing too great and high fashion but typical things that you would never be able to guess if it is from Wal-Mart or Saks. So as I approached the checkout with my mom we laughed on how much we had in our cart. So when it was done it all came out to $400 and we both looked at each other and said "WOW". If we bought one thing at Saks it would be that price and we have bags and bags of stuff, so much i could not fit it in my suit case to fly back with that alone costs more than the stuff i bought, stupid airlines but thats another topic ha. But day one of the trying to be a savvy shopper might be a good start! Even thought I spent wayyy too much! Ah will it ever STOP??

So everyone knows about the bad economy (womp, womp) and everyone knows their bank accounts are not what they want them to be. I know myself mine is getting smaller and smaller. I see this and I keep telling myself that I need to cut back but it is SO hard to do so when you are in the fashion field, with a slight shopping problem. ( I say slight but I mean huge). I still am living off my parents and as a college student times are getting even worse. Everyday I get a call from my mother saying "STOP SPENDING MONEY WE DO NOT HAVE IT!". And I really really want to but seeing the new fashions because of being in the fashion field makes it even worse. So I started thinking, Why is fashion so expensive??? Why do you have to have labels??? And why are do we all feel like we need to have these things??? I try and try to buy things on sale or at discount stores but knowing there is better things out there makes it so hard for me to even want to buy them. I feel as if I can't buy on sale, because of the sigmas that come along with it, it is a real bad feeling that I do not want to have anymore! I know stores and designers have tried to make lower end lines to fill this kinda of gap but still nothing is like buying the real thing. I really want to become that savvy shopper who still looks good but on a budget I just can't seem to get there yet. So this is the start of a new era for me I am going to try to become that person hoping this blog will help along the way. So wish me luck! I'm gonna need it!!
